Football Defense Coaching Videos, DVDs & Playbooks

Defensive installs, coverage packages, blitzes and tackling drills from proven coordinators.

111 titles · page 1 of 5

Great defenses are built on alignment, assignment and effort, and the football defense coaching videos here teach all three. Championship coordinators walk through how they install the 3-3-5, 3-4 Stack, 4-2-5, 4-4, 4-3 and 3-5-3, how they fit the run, how they disguise coverage, and how they build a blitz package that players can actually execute.

You will also find the fundamentals that every scheme depends on: tackling progressions, block destruction, pursuit angles and turnover drills. Each video includes whiteboard teaching and practice or game film, so your staff sees the technique and the result.

Football Defense Coaching Videos, DVDs & Playbooks: Frequently Asked Questions

Which defensive scheme is best against the spread?
Odd-stack fronts like the 3-3-5 and 3-5-3 and the 4-2-5 are popular against spread offenses because they keep speed on the field and make it easy to adjust to formations. The 4-4 and 4-3 remain strong choices against run-heavy opponents. Several videos here address exactly that decision, and many coordinators explain how they adjust one base defense for both.
Do these videos cover coverages and blitzes, or just fronts?
Most complete installs cover the front, the coverage package and the pressure package together, because they have to fit. Standalone titles on blitz design, coverage adjustments and defending specific offenses are listed within each scheme's category.
Are the tackling drills safe for younger players?
The tackling titles teach leverage, head placement and shoulder tackling progressions that emphasise safety, and coaches explain how to introduce contact gradually. Always follow your league's contact rules and your medical staff's guidance.
Can I stream these or do I need a DVD?
Most defense titles stream instantly in your browser after purchase, and many are also available on DVD or as a download. Each listing shows the format, and the product page lists every option for that title.
How long is a typical defensive install video?
Usually 45 to 90 minutes. Multi-part series cover the base defense, then coverages, then pressures in separate volumes, and each product page lists the running time and topics.
Will a video help if I am a first-year defensive coordinator?
That is exactly who many of these were made for. The coordinators start from alignment and base rules, then layer in adjustments, so you can install with confidence and answer your players' questions. Pair a full install with a tackling title for the fundamentals.
Is there an option to watch the whole defensive library?
Yes. The AFM Videos streaming membership gives a year of access to the streaming library, which is the best value if your staff wants to compare several schemes. See the Membership page for details.
